The design is inspired by the pacific fish which is traditionally the most important food source of the Pacific people. The KEA AUDIO PACIFICA is omni-polar and has two sets of woofers and tweeters, one set directing to the listener and the other to the wall.

Kea Audio produces High End Hifi Stereo Louspeakers and Amplifiers with the goal to achieve the best music reproduction. In order to accomplish that we undertake a lot of research and develope new technology and materials.

German Audio Designer and Acoustic Engineer Dipl.Ing. J. Lang has over 20 years experience in loudspeaker design and worked many years on the development of an innovative new loudspeaker cone material, a polymer hard foam called 'Polyepicell'.

Using the same material and cone technology for woofers and tweeters we achieve a very homogenous natural sound.

Polyepicell has superior properties and combines qualities like stiffness and light weight. The enormous stiffness of Polyepicell reduces bending and the specially designed damping calms the feared cone breakups.
The sound of this amazing loudspeaker is therefore extremely transparent and natural and the light weight of the cones allows an accurate and fast impulse response with an impact that leaves listeners astounded.

 
 
 

The light weight causes a high loudspeaker efficiency, which means that the electrical energy from the amplifier is transformed into a big percentage of acoustic energy of the loudspeaker, so amplifiers with little output power can drive our speakers sufficiently and at high volumes.

This is the frequency response of our loudspeaker Spear. The measurement is taken in a standard living room. The low frequency reproduction starts at 25Hz and represents an extremely low value. The upper frequency goes well over the measured band of 20 000Hz.

Here you see the impuls response of our 6.5" Polyepicell woofer. This represents an excellent impuls reproduction. The frequency response shows are very smooth curve up to 3500Hz where the woofer rolls off naturally. This is the crossover frequency and eliminates the need for steep filters. 

 
 

On the right the frequency response of our Polyepicell 5 inch woofer is shown. The frequency response is very flat and drops off naturally at the crossover frequency, eliminating the need for passive crossover components

Many renowned Artists and Craftspeople are involved with our products. We use many native and unique timbers which are only found in New Zealand. All cabinets and drivers are hand assembled here in Nelson at our own premises.
